Despite their compact size, EnerCera battery can output as high power as several hundred milliamps.

An Encounter at a Trade Show
While investigating the issue, a member of the R&D team came across NGK’s EnerCera battery range on display at an exhibition of next-generation IoT solutions. He sat down with the NGK representative and explained the problem. Some days later, he met with a team from NGK, this time accompanied by the engineers on his team. NGK explained the features and technical specifications of the EnerCera, proposed a solution for a keyless entry system, and provided product samples.

The R&D team went about building a number of prototypes using the samples provided by NGK. They performed repeated testing under a range of conditions. While size had been a concern, the footprints of the assembled devices conformed to NGK’s original proposal, and exceed the team’s expectations.
Currently, the client is working with NGK to further refine the design and functionality of their prototypes, to commercialize EnerCera-battery-powered key fob. They are also discussing the possibility of expanding their range to include devices for home and office applications.
